Sweetpea 0-2 years, Ratio 1 adult : 3 children
On the ground floor of the nursery, our baby room is bright, spacious and adaptable offering lots of room for moving and exploring but also calming areas too. Our practitioners are specifically trained in the care of young babies and have the professional knowledge to respond to every child's unique stage of progression.
Our nursery routine is flexible. This will help compliment your home routines so that each child's individual needs and preferences are followed. We encourage children to self select their key person to ensure the development of organic and positive relationships. This special person empowers children to feel safe and secure, allocating families a person to discuss their child's development and share ideas and advice with.
Every day your child will be offered freshly cooked, stage appropriate, meals and snacks. We can cater for all dietary needs offering a low salt / sugar alternative for our younger babies.
We follow government guidelines with regards to weaning and in consultation with families, we are happy to support with introducing solid foods from the age of six months or when the baby is ready. We prepare babies meals in a 'stage' suitable way during the weaning process and will consult with families to ensure we are understanding of the baby's needs. For more information on weaning, please look at: Weaning - Start for Life - NHS OR Food Standard Agency - Safeguarding mealtimes (choking hazards)
Every milk feed is made up fresh, before being delivered in a cosy way by their key carer. All milk is stored and disposed of safely. We ask families to provide an unopened tub of formula to store at nursery. We are able to store freshly expressed breast milk which again will be served according to babies preferences.

Safer sleeping
We follow the lullaby trusts expert advice regarding safer sleeping for babies. Babies are placed to sleep on their backs. If in a cot, they are placed in the feet to foot of the cot position with only a blanket/ sleep bag to avoid risk of suffocation. They are regularly monitored during the time they are asleep to ensure they are safe. At the age of 12 months, lots of our babies transition to one sleep during the day. At this point we try to move from cot onto a bed mat but we will discuss this with families prior to doing so. If anyone needs any support or guidance on Safer Sleep, please speak to a member of the team or visit:
